Ethnic Diversity's Impact On Political Violence
Ethnic diversity can cause a state to be more prone to political violence under certain circumstances, however it cannot be the only cause of political violence. As the world becomes more developed and complex, the theories in which one studies must comparatively adhere to such evolution. By discerning the weaknesses of the primordialist approach, and the strengths of the constructivist approach, an accurate and multifaceted discussion may be reached. Rather than exclusively linking ethnic diversity to political violence, it may be argued that political violence is caused by a number of factors in addition to ethnic diversity. The most influential factors include incentive for violence, socioeconomic differences, level of democracy, and the weaponization of ethnicity by elites. Finally, and most importantly, the discussion highlights the complicated network in which political violence is most accurately represented.
